November Immigration Quotas Reached
Posted by ABM Solicitors on 25th November 2010 to Immigration
The skilled worker immigration quota of 600 was reached three weeks in advance for November. The point of this system introduced in July by the Government for highly skilled workers has once again been put into question as the figure is exceeded.
The UK Border Agency who administer the immigration limit on a monthly basis said that on the 10th of November they would not be issuing any more Visas this month to avoid exceeding the 600 immigration quota limit. This prompts fears that there will be a substantial backlog in Applications with a knock on adverse affect upon business.
This particular capping process is viewed widely by businesses as being irrational and there are hopes that the Migration Advisory Committee may review the position and advise the Government on alternate ways to proceed.
ABM Solicitors will be very supportive of a re-think in this area, as the delays resulting cannot benefit the country coming out of recession. ABM works hard with businesses in order to ensure that the best skilled workers from outside the EU are able to enter the UK.
