A B Marsh Solicitors are pleased to announce that their bid for a Legal Services Commission Family Contract has been successful. A B Marsh Solicitors continue to be one of the few Family Law solicitors in Manchester with a Legal Aid franchise for family law. Indeed we are one of the few Firms in the Country to qualify for the Family Contract. This confirms our commitment to Legal Aid and providing a service to all the public regardless of their means and social background and providing legal protection to all.

This allows A B Marsh Solicitors to move forward with their plans for the Family Department, which have been on hold for approximately twelve months. A B Marsh Solicitors were successful in their bid for the original Contract proposals. However, the Legal Services Commission plans for family law did not proceed after the Law Society made a judicial review of the decision which has reduced the number of family Solicitors providing Legal Aid work by half. The unfortunate result of this has been that many Firms such as A B Marsh have effectively been on hold pending the ultimate outcome of the revised bidding process.

Andrew Marsh was asked to comment on the success of the Firm in the bid and said, “I’m delighted that we have once again been successful. It has been a very hard time for the Firm, especially the Family Department who have not known where they have stood for so long. At times it felt like it was going to be far easier just to leave Legal Aid and concentrate on our private work and private clients.
